ABOUT NUCBACD
NUCBACD was established in Kitgum District, Uganda in 2006. The NUCBACD Center was created to support children with disabilities who are discriminated against by their community, families and deprived from their human rights as they are perceived as a burden and a misfortune to the society. NUCBACD operates in Pader district as well.
Sister Ayoo Theresa, an Ugandan, has been the founder of the Center, that was registered as an NGO in November 2009. After leaving the Convent, she decided to move in the camps where insecurity had forced people into hundred of camps across Northern Uganda. Her visits to the camps mainly had for purpose to share her life with disabled children and give them love, strength and hope for a future. She wanted to give them a home, where they could live and flourish, a place where they would be recognized and achieve their full potential.

NUCBACD has currently 120 children with disabilities within the center and 152 war affected children, who became disabled through the war.
Through the Home Based Care there are 345 severe cases with disabilities (cerebral palsy, hydrocephalous and mentally challenged).
There are 172 disabled children who are benefiting of school enrollment within their community and who are regularly monitored by NUCBACD team.
Needless to mention that there are so many more children that Sister Theresa is unable to reach due to financial constraints.
In total the Center is supporting 789 disabled children through the various programs.
